Sails and Masts
All Roman Seas ship model files come with optional sails. Although galley warships rarely entered combat with sails and masts, some people may prefer to finish their ship models with sails and masts as this does make an impressive looking model. To construct the masts, for the smaller galley warship models, try using round tooth picks, although these will need to have their circumference reduced slightly by sanding (easy and quick to do). For the larger ships model, try using rattan (shish kabob/skewering stick). Simply cut the rattan to the correct length, and then split it to an appropriate width and then round it through sanding and then finally paint it. Rattan takes glue very well and is very strong. Note that the cross mast (the actual part that holds the sails) is incorporated into the sail artwork and therefore, you need only provide the actual upright portion of the mast if you so choose to include masts with your models.
